Chevrolet Engine Light Codes2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 - P0327 DTC

Question

2003 Chevy Silverado I drive a 2003 Chevrolet 1500HD. Several weeks ago I accidently sank the truck in a creek and the fan slung water all over the engine compartment. Everything seemed to be fine after I got it out but the next day the check enginge light came on showing the code P0327.

I've had the code cleared a few times and after driving for a few hours it comes back on. Wondering what all could be causing the problem. Thanks

Vehicle: 2003 Chevrolet Silverado
Codes: P0327 - Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Low Input (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)

Answer

Hi Jay, thanks for contacting us with your question.

First off let me explain the code on your Chev Silverado 1500. A P0327 code is Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Low Input (Bank 1 or Single Sensor). Basically that means that there is a problem related to the knock sensor and/or it's electrical wiring circuit on Bank 1 of your engine.

A good place to start diagnosis is to get your hands on a repair or service manual for your truck, and verify the resistance of the knock sensor on bank #1. If that checks out OK, then you're going to want to visually inspect the wiring and connectors going from the knock sensor back to the PCM. If they look OK, use a digital volt ohm meter to ensure there are no shorts. More detailed instructions on further troubleshooting steps is found @ P0327 @ OBD-Codes.com

If you have any doubts, please consult a qualified mechanic. Good luck!
